When we first learned about Miss Mara’s story, what stood out to us was her incredible strength as she cared for her two young children. We had many discussions about how we could best support her, and it became clear that her needs were essential. Despite being a dedicated single mother, Mara had gone without a washer and dryer for so long that she’d lost count of the months. On top of that, the family’s couch was old and broken, and she lacked the funds to replace any of these necessary household items. The weight of her situation deeply moved us, and we knew we had to step in.
A strong foundation begins at home, and we believe it’s the core that shapes everything else. Miss Mara was recently hired as a third-grade teacher, a role we truly value as it shapes the next generation. As we prepared to deliver her new items, we were excited to serve her family. When we arrived, we immediately began uninstalling the old washer and dryer. As Mara pulled into the driveway, she was greeted by the Lovelock Foundation team. We embraced her and explained why we were there, and she was instantly filled with emotion. She shared more of her story with us, describing the challenges she had faced but also how she had always held on to her faith.
We handed her a closing letter along with a $200 gift card, which brought about even more emotions. After we finished installing the new items, Mara expressed her excitement about no longer needing to go to the laundromat and being able to relax at home with her children on their new couch. As always, we prayed over the family, asking God to continue blessing, guiding, and protecting them. In unity, there is strength.

As a single mom of 2 toddlers, trying to provide on a teaching salary is nearly impossible. Prioritizing is a must. So, when my washer and dryer went out and there were no extra funds to replace them, I went without. Also, when my couch broke and I was unable to replace it, we sat on a broken couch. Life goes on right... Well, God is a God of detail and he knows your needs and your wants. He's a good God and a great provider. God provided for us through the LoveLock Foundation. The foundation blessed us with a washer, dryer, and a beautiful couch. More than that, they gifted me the convenience of washing at home once again. LoveLock also gave me the comfort of snuggling with my babies on the couch once again. Thank you for all that you all do.
